Your first class

Count to 8. We’ll take care of the rest.

No experience or partner needed. Here’s how your first class goes, one count at a time.

Cyntia is super dynamic and very welcoming to newcomers! She explains things really well and makes sure the whole group understands. A great first experience!

  1. Cindy, an instructor, smiles as she dances in the middle of the group

5 —You show up, even on your own.

Arrive a few minutes early to settle in. No partner or special outfit needed; some venues require clean indoor shoes.

  2. An instructor explains the steps at the mic in front of the group

6 —We break down every step.

We teach you everything on the spot, step by step, then we practice together with the crew. Lose your place? Ask away: the team helps you jump back in.

  3. At the mic, someone in a turquoise hat leads a packed room of line dancers

7 —The music starts. You dance.

You move, you laugh, you forget about your day. Everyone does the same steps at the same time.

  4. A large group, all smiles, poses in rows in a sunny park, several in matching black T-shirts

8 —You come back for the crew.

We greet you, show you around, and you’ll quickly start recognizing faces.

Before your first class

Beginner questions

Got another question before your first class? That’s what we’re here for.

Write to us
I’ve never danced before. Is that okay?

Absolutely! Some options are designed for people starting from zero: the Level 1 — First Steps classes start with the basics. We teach you everything in class, step by step.

Do I need a partner?

No! Line dancing is done as a group, without a partner: everyone does the same steps at the same time. Come alone or bring someone.

Can I come just once? Do I need to register in advance?

It depends on the class. Some you can take as a drop-in; others run as a session, or you register through a partner organization or a municipality. The format, price and how to register are listed on each class card: see the classes.

What’s the free trial in Laval?

Some classes in Laval offer a free trial: a real class, at no cost. Pick your level, then an available date, and leave your details to save your spot. On the classes page, the ones that offer it are marked “Free trial available.” Book a free trial.

Are the classes held in a bar?

It depends on the class. Some are held in a gym or a hall, in a calmer, more structured setting; others in a country bar or resto-bar, with a more festive vibe. The venue is listed on each class card: see the classes.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and clean shoes that let you move and pivot. Some venues have their own shoe rules: they’re listed on that class’s page.

Do I need to be in shape?

This isn’t about performance: you follow along at your own pace and the steps are explained one at a time. The class pace, the level and access to the room (a flight of stairs to climb, for example) vary from class to class. Have a specific need or condition? Write to us before your first class.

Can I come with my friends?

Absolutely! You can also book a crew night out for birthdays, bachelorette parties or outings with friends.
