This class is for you if…

Wherever you learned your basics — at Wild Fox Country or elsewhere — it’s your current comfort level that counts.

  • You’re already comfortable with the basic steps, walls, transitions, tags and restarts.
  • You can follow a choreography without starting over from scratch, and you remember the dances well from one week to the next.
  • You want more complex dances: faster sequences, changes of direction, styling details.
  • You want to progress with a motivated crew and feel more at ease at dance nights, festivals and country bars.

Never danced or just starting out? Monday intermediate is a Level 4 — Intermediate class, the most advanced at Wild Fox Country. Start instead with the Monday beginner class at 7 p.m., a free trial or Thursday at Jack Saloon Laval — the goal is to send you to the right class.

What is the class like?

More technical choreographies, faster sequences and styling details — broken down so you actually progress.

Quick review

The class starts with a short review of the previous week’s dance, practiced to the music. If you don’t know it yet, you follow along at your own pace.

Dance of the week

Once the review is done, we move on to the new choreography of the week.

We break it down

We break the choreography down step by step to make it easier to learn.

Technical sections

Since the level is more advanced, some sections take more focus, memory and repetition. You can ask to go over a part again.

We try it with the music

Once the group is more comfortable, we dance the full choreography to the music.

The goal is to help you progress, not to make you feel lost. We keep the Wild Fox vibe: motivating, human, high-energy and judgment-free.

Junior

Instructor · Choreographer

Junior works with dancers who want to go further without losing the joy of dancing. His structured, motivating approach helps you better understand the sequences, gain confidence and take on new challenges on the floor.

Already have the basics down and want to learn slightly more demanding choreographies? Junior is there to help you progress, one dance at a time.

The perfect atmosphere for progressing

The Monday class takes place in a gym, which creates a calmer atmosphere that’s better suited to learning than a night out at a bar.

It’s perfect for intermediate choreographies: you hear the explanations clearly, see the moves clearly, we slow down the more complex passages and repeat the difficult sections. It’s much easier to progress than sitting alone in front of a tutorial.

  • À savoir · Which building?

École Jean-Piaget has two buildings. The class takes place at Building 2 (Édifice 2), 2275 rue Honoré-Mercier — not at the other building, the one on boulevard Dagenais Ouest. To avoid going to the wrong place, enter the full address in your GPS. Once there, use the main door, right on rue Honoré-Mercier. Open in Google Maps

  • À savoir · Shoes

A second pair of clean indoor shoes is mandatory. Ideally, a sole that doesn’t stick to the floor too much — avoid overly grippy shoes, especially for pivots, changes of direction and fast sequences. Cowboy boots are not allowed for Monday classes.

  • Access

The gym is on the second floor of the building, and the elevator isn’t available for our classes: you’ll need to walk up one flight of stairs.

  • Age

The class is open to ages 12 and over. Participants aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied for the entire class by an adult who is also taking the class. It’s not possible to drop off a minor at the class and leave.

  • Parking

A few spots are available right on site. If the lot is full, you can park on the surrounding streets.

  • Arrival

Doors open 15 minutes before class, at 7:45 p.m. If you arrive earlier, you can wait in the vestibule at the building’s entrance. Check-in is downstairs, right as you walk in, and you’ll change your shoes just after, before heading upstairs. Allow time to park, check in, change your shoes, go up to the second floor and get settled before the class starts.

  • What to bring

Comfortable clothes you can move in easily, a water bottle and your second pair of shoes.

Frequently asked questions

What’s left to know before your first Monday.

Can I come if I’ve never danced?

It’s not recommended. The intermediate class (Level 4 — Intermediate) is the most advanced level offered at Wild Fox Country.

If you’ve never danced, fill out the free trial form instead or come see us on Thursday at Jack Saloon Laval to better gauge your level.

Can I take both Monday classes?

Yes. The beginner class runs from 7 to 8 p.m., then the intermediate class from 8 to 9 p.m. The full evening costs $18 tax included as a drop-in, or $202 + tax for the session bundle.

Even at the intermediate level, taking the beginner class first is a good way to warm up, review some basics and dance longer. Note that it isn’t possible to stay just to watch.

Do I need to know the previous week’s dance?

No. The class starts with a short review of the previous dance, but you can simply follow along at your own pace if you don’t know it.

Is the class difficult?

Yes, it’s a more advanced class. The dances are generally more complex than in our other classes, but they’re broken down step by step to make them easier to learn.

Why take the class instead of learning alone on YouTube?

Because some dances are hard to learn on your own. In class, you can ask questions, go back over the complex sections, practice with the group and better understand how the choreography fits the music.

Do I need a partner?

No. Country line dancing is danced solo, with the group. You can come alone, with a friend, your partner or your crew.

Can I come with my teen?

Yes, for ages 12 and over. Your teen must be accompanied for the entire class by an adult who is also taking the class — we can’t accept minors on their own. The class isn’t open to children under 12.

Not sure this is the right class?

Levels, cities, atmospheres: compare all the options and find the class made for you.

Ready to level up?

More challenge, more technique, more progress. If you’re comfortable with your steps and want more complex choreographies, you’ll feel right at home in the pack.
