What is the class like?

Simple steps, accessible choreographies and a dance memory that builds up gradually — a real foundation for dance nights, events, festivals and more advanced classes.

You arrive and get settled

Plan a few extra minutes: time to park, check in and change your shoes downstairs, then go up to the second floor and get settled.

We start simple

We begin with clear explanations and accessible steps.

We learn step by step

We guide you step by step so you understand the choreography.

We practice with the music

We dance to the music, go back over the trickier parts, and keep the fun going from start to finish.

You leave more confident

The goal isn’t for you to be perfect. The goal is for you to leave thinking: turns out, I can do this.

We explain, we repeat, we adjust — and we keep the mood light from start to finish.

Your teachers

You’ll learn with Cyntia or Cindy

Cyntia and Cindy take turns teaching the Monday class. Either way, we welcome you, guide you and make sure nobody gets left behind.

Cyntia

Cyntia

Founder · Instructor · Host · Choreographer

Cyntia sets the tone at Wild Fox Country: contagious energy, clear explanations and a way of doing things that helps people feel comfortable fast.

Whether you show up not knowing anyone, feel nervous or are starting from zero, she’s there to welcome you, encourage you and help you discover the joy of dancing without pressure.

Cindy

Cindy

Instructor · Choreographer

Cindy helps newcomers find their footing without pressure. With a patient, clear and encouraging approach, she takes the time to break down the steps so everyone can progress at their own pace.

If you’re afraid you won’t keep up or wonder whether you’ll be able to do it, Cindy is there to remind you that we learn one dance at a time — and that it’s okay to make mistakes along the way.

The perfect atmosphere for learning

The Monday class takes place in a gym, which creates a calmer atmosphere that’s better suited to learning than a night out at a bar.

It’s ideal if you want to hear the explanations better, see the moves clearly, ask questions, repeat the trickier sections and learn in a structured environment.

  • À savoir · Which building?

École Jean-Piaget has two buildings. The class takes place at Building 2 (Édifice 2), 2275 rue Honoré-Mercier — not at the other building, the one on boulevard Dagenais Ouest. To avoid going to the wrong place, enter the full address in your GPS. Once there, use the main door, right on rue Honoré-Mercier. Open in Google Maps

  • À savoir · Shoes

A second pair of clean indoor shoes is mandatory. Ideally, a sole that doesn’t stick to the floor too much — clean sneakers will do, but avoid shoes with too much grip. Cowboy boots are not allowed for Monday classes.

  • Access

The gym is on the second floor of the building, and the elevator isn’t available for our classes: you’ll need to walk up one flight of stairs.

  • Age

The class is open to ages 12 and over. Participants aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied for the entire class by an adult who is also taking the class. It’s not possible to drop off a minor at the class and leave.

  • Parking

A few spots are available right on site. If the lot is full, you can park on the surrounding streets.

  • Arrival

Doors open 15 minutes before class, at 6:45 p.m. If you arrive earlier, you can wait in the vestibule at the building’s entrance. Check-in is downstairs, right as you walk in, and you’ll change your shoes just after, before heading upstairs. Allow time to park, check in, change your shoes, go up to the second floor and get settled before the class starts.

  • What to bring

Comfortable clothes you can move in easily, a water bottle and your second pair of shoes.

Frequently asked questions

What’s left to know before your first Monday.

Can I come if I’ve never danced?

Yes, but with an important nuance. The Monday class is Level 2 — Beginner, but it isn’t always an absolute Level 1 — First Steps class. If you’ve never danced, some dances may be a little faster to follow at first.

For a first experience that’s easier to gauge, fill out the free trial form or come see us on Thursday at Jack Saloon Laval.

Is the class in a bar?

No. The Monday class takes place in a gym. It’s a calmer, more structured atmosphere that’s better suited to learning — perfect if you really want to understand the steps, ask questions and progress without the noise of a bar.

Do I need a partner?

No. Country line dancing is danced solo, with the group. You can come alone, with a friend, your partner or your crew.

Can I stay for the next class?

Yes. After the beginner class from 7 to 8 p.m., the intermediate class runs from 8 to 9 p.m. To take part in the second hour, you need the two-class option — it isn’t possible to stay just to watch.

I’m coming alone and I’m shy. Is that okay?

Yes. Lots of people arrive alone at their first class, and it’s normal to be a little nervous. The atmosphere is welcoming, simple and judgment-free. You come as you are — we take care of the rest.

Can I come with my teen?

Yes, for ages 12 and over. Your teen must be accompanied for the entire class by an adult who is also taking the class — we can’t accept minors on their own. The class isn’t open to children under 12.

Not sure this is the right class?

Levels, cities, atmospheres: compare all the options and find the class made for you.
